About

For over 13 years I have been working in the movement industry, always with a strong interest in supporting new moms and women.

In 2017 I stepped away from business (desk) roles and went for it, making fitness and yoga my full time gig.

After becoming a mom myslef, I partnered with Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, Andrea Picket, to begin the dream of a rehab focused program for new moms; a place for those who weren’t sure where to start with movement postpartum, and most imporantly for those navigating common yet often misunderstood concerns such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and diastasis recti.

We have created a community where mom's can gather, heal and be seen. This sense of strong community has spilled over into all of the offerings at The Root Studio.

In 2018 I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training. As an inflexible runner and fitness teacher it was not a journey I had intended, but a friend asked me to join her so I did. It was a challenging undertaking and in the years since I have come to appreciate the gifts this experience provided. I feel I have found my Yoga and love to share it with others.

During my yoga studies I became fascinated by the Chakras. Simply put, Chakras are energy points in the body that are said to affect emotional and physical well-being. The Root Chakra (Muladhara) is the first of seven. Just like a tree the root chakra is what grounds us to the earth, creating the foundation on which you build your life, the starting point for development. The Root Chakra is associated with the physical body, Interconnection (community) and is said to be the centre for emotional and spiritual balance.

Seems fitting.

My intention is for The Root Studio to be a place of connection, community, and improved physical and mental strength. This has been my dream for so many years. I am so fortunate to live my dream and it has been worth every moment of the hike to get here!

See you in the studio.
