About

Over the past 11 years I have worked primarily with new moms and made it my full time gig in 2017. Even before I became a mom myself in 2014 (and again in 2016), I found this work so fulfilling. I still cannot find words to explain it, empowering women is my passion.

Three years ago I partnered with Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, Andrea Picket, to begin the dream of a rehab focused program for new moms; a place for those who weren’t sure where to start with movement postpartum, or for those struggling with common yet often misunderstood concerns such as incontinence, pelvic floor prolapse and diastasis recti. Where mom's could gather, heal and be seen.

The program took off instantly and has provided us with the gift of supporting women through their recovery; patiently building deep core strength and strong roots for future movement and fitness goals.

Postpartum is a time when we often feel unsure, lonely and new. Bringing new moms together in a safe, respectful and supportive space has cultivated an incredible community and many long-lasting relationships.

In 2018 I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training. As an inflexible runner and fitness teacher it was not a journey I had intended, but a friend asked me to join her so I did. It was a challenging undertaking and in the years since I have come to appreciate the gifts this experience provided. I feel I have found my Yoga and love to share it with others.

During my yoga studies I became fascinated by the Chakras. Simply put, Chakras are energy points in the body that are said to affect emotional and physical well-being. The Root Chakra (Muladhara) is the first of seven. Just like a tree the root chakra is what grounds us to the earth, creating the foundation on which you build your life, the starting point for development. The Root Chakra is associated with the physical body, Interconnection (community) and is said to be the centre for emotional and spiritual balance.

Seems fitting.

My intention is for The Root Studio to be a place of connection, community, and improved physical and mental strength. This has been my dream for so many years. I am so fortunate to live my dream and it has been worth every moment of the hike to get here!

See you in the studio.
